President's Award:

First awarded in 2004, the President's Award is presented to an employer in Nova Scotia who has demonstrated consistent support of TechNova and its members. To be considered for this award, the employer must show support in the form of:
  • recognizing the value of professional certification among technicians and technologists. This requirement can be satisfied by hiring certified members, subsidizing their membership dues, or promoting certification among technology staff
  • providing members with adequate professional development opportunities
  • operating a safe work environment for its employees
  • allowing members time off to volunteer for TechNova as a Council or committee member, or to take part in TechNova-sponsored events or programs
  • operating within the TechNova Code of Ethics

The Ray Fiske Memorial Award for Service Excellence:

In memoriam to a founding member of TechNova and one of its most dedicated volunteer leaders, The Ray Fiske Memorial Award for Service Excellence is presented to a member in good standing who, as determined by Council, has distinguished himself/herself in "sustained and progressive" service in support of TechNova and its goals.

Meloche Monnex Continuing Education Bursary:

The Meloche Monnex Continuing Education Bursary is actually two awards of $500.00 each and is awarded each year to a member, or child of a member, who is enrolled in a recognized technology program at the post-secondary level. The winner is selected at random from all eligible applicants. The deadline for entry is October 1. Entries must include proof of enrollment.

This years winner was Brennen Power. As there were no other entries Brennan was awarded both of the bursaries for a toatal of $1000.00

Ray Fiske Education Award:

Named in honour of long-time Registrar Mr. Ray Fiske, P.Eng., CET (Hon.), TechNova awards a $500 bursary each year to the son or daughter of a member who is undertaking post-secondary studies. To apply, simply send a letter along with the name of your son or daughter and proof of his/her enrollment at a college or university. The winner is drawn at random from all qualified applicants. The deadline for entries is October 1.

Student Achievement Awards:

To celebrate excellence in education, TechNova is proud to award $100 to a graduate, as selected by faculty, from each accredited college program in Nova Scotia. Winners of the TechNova Student Achievement Awards for 2009 were:

National Achievement Award:

Awarded each year to a certified technician or technologist affiliated with one of the member associations of CCTT, the Canadian Council of Technicians and Technologists, the National Achievement Award is given in recognition of the member's technical achievements in one of the 14 recognized engineering or applied science disciplines.

Eligibility Criteria: The competition is open to any technician or technologist registered with a member association (Constituent Member) of the Council and who is actively working in one of the engineering or applied science technology disciplines. Other criteria include:

  • The nominee/applicant’s must be a Canadian Citizen or have Permanent Resident Status
  • The nominee/applicant’s outstanding achievement/performance must have taken place in Canada within the last five years
  • All nominees/applicants will consent to the use of their name and photograph for the purposes of publicizing the results of the award and/or publicizing future award programs

Submission Guidelines: The following questions are designed to elicit information of a sufficiently detailed nature to assist in the adjudication of the nominee/applicant:

  • Briefly describe the nominee/applicant and his/her activities in one or more of the eligible fields of technology
  • Provide details of any unique or significant scientific developments undertaken by the nominee/applicant
  • Provide a brief curriculum vitae of the nominee/applicant
  • List any achievements of the nominee/applicant that have been honoured by other technical or scientific bodies in the last two years
  • Describe any economic impact or other benefits, which may result from the achievements of the nominee/applicant
  • Selection Process: Each application is adjudicated by the CCTT Officers of the Council, who are responsible for selecting 3-5 finalists. The finalists are then evaluated by the full Board of Directors by mail ballot.

Award Benefits: Presentation of the award is made by the CCTT President at the Annual National Directors’ Meeting. CCTT will pay expenses for the recipient to attend the Awards Banquet to accept the award. In addition:

  • The recipient's name is engraved on a national trophy kept on display at CCTT's national office
  • The recipient will receive a personalized CCTT plaque to honour their achievement

Manulife Scholarship:

Each year the Canadian Council of Technicians and Technologists (CCTT), through the generosity of Manulife Canada, will award two $1,000 scholarships to the son or daughter of individual members with one of CCTT's 10 member associations (Constituent Member).

Purpose: To assist the son or daughter of an individual member of a Constituent Member (CM) of the CCTT with expenses incurred to undertake a course of studies leading to a technician or technology diploma in a recognized program of studies in engineering or applied science.

Eligibility: In order to be eligible, the applicant must:

  • secure a letter from a CM of the Council, attesting to the fact that his/her parents are members in good standing
  • confirm by official transcripts that he/she is a graduate from a Grade 12 secondary school program with second-class, or better, standing; and
  • prove by official letter, that he/she is registered in a full-time engineering or applied science technology program in Canada

Selection: All submissions will be coded and the recipients will be chosen by lottery method. The winners will be announced annually at the CCTT awards banquet, held in conjunction with the National Directors’ Meeting.

Entry Deadline: Submissions must be received at the CCTT office no later than October 1 annually.
